One Book One Alliant &
Cross-Cultural Simulation Activity

4-5:00pm  Dr. Phong Luong will host a book discussion on Lê Thi Deim Thúy's novel, The Gangster We Are All Looking For (2003). This book is about a story of a Vietnamese family in America and the journey of finding one’s place and voice in the America. Dr. Luong is a psychotherapist at Saddleback Health Center and instructor at Saddleback College.

5-6:00pm  Dr. Rajeswari Natrajan-Tyagi will lead a cross-cultural simulation activity, Bafa Bafa. Participants will practice the rituals and customs of different cultures and immerse themselves in a cross-cultural encounter. Participants will have the opportunity to dialogue about their experiences during the simulated activity, and will gain valuable insights on how to interact with individuals from different backgrounds. Dr. Natrajan-Tyagi is an associate professor from Marital and Family Therapy program at Alliant International University, and currently the chair of campus I-MERIT committee.

*Dr. Michi Fu from the Asian American Psychological Association will be present at the event to provide information for the participants. Participants will learn about the mission of the association, benefits of being a member, its journal and upcoming conference. It’s a great opportunity to connect with Asian American community, to network with Asian American Psychologists and mental health providers in Southern California, and to understand and learn how to better work with Asian American populations!!!

Free Food will be provided.
All students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend!
