CSPP 40th Anniversary
The California School of Professional Psychology turned 40during the 2009-2010 academic year. Alumni events were held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego and Tokyo, and over 550 people reconnected with old friends, professors and their campuses. Below is a summary of each event.

San Francisco Bay (Alameda, Berkeley)
The San Francisco event was held on Saturday, April 24 at the San Francisco campus and across the street at the JLaChic Theatre at Pier 39. Events included a networking reception, remarks by members of the CSPP community, a lecture by Dr. Dacher Keltner entitled "The Science of a Meaningful Life,” and a post-event gathering with wine and hors d’oeuvres. Continuing education credit was provided for the lecture. During the program, remarks were made by the following individuals: · President Geoff Cox · Dean Morgan Sammons · Ed Bourg, CSPP alumnus, Professor and Special Assistant to the President · Valata Jenkins-Monroe, CSPP alumna, Professor and Clinical PsyD Program Director · Kate Thomson and Manuel Gonzalez, current San Francisco CSPP students representing the Student Government Association (SGA) · Randy Wyatt, a CSPP alumus, Associate Professor and Director of Professional Training, facilitated a Question and Answer section after Dr. Keltner’s lecture
Los Angeles
The Los Angeles event was held on Saturday, June 19 outdoors in the Oval Mall at the Los Angeles campus in Alhambra. It featured a 40th anniversary slideshow, time for networking and drinks & hors d’oeuvres. Remarks were made by the following individuals: · Stephanie Byers-Bell, DCSS and Mistress of Ceremonies · Dean Morgan Sammons · Connell Persico (the LA Dean of Students and Campus Provost from 1975-1991) · Judy Chu, CSPP Alumna and Congresswoman for California’s 32nd District · Judy Holloway, CSPP Associate Professor and CSPP Alumna · Amy Rosett, CSPP alumna and President of the Los Angeles County Psychological Association · Linda Tyrrell, CSPP alumna and President of the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association · Sara Bione-Dunn, a current CSPP LA Clinical PsyD student.
Irvine
The Irvine event, organized by CSPP alumna and current Irvine staff member Karmen Madatyan-Floriolli, was held on Friday, July 23 at the old Irvine campus.
San Diego
The San Diego event was held on Friday, August 13 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel during the annual convention of the American Psychological Association. It featured comments by President Cox, Provost Newman, Dean Sammons, Steven Bucky, Neil Ribner and CSPP alumni Jesse Zlotnik and Marni Greenberg, and plenty of time to mix, mingle and network. The room was full and many people took advantage of the adjacent patio and the wonderful weather to chat outside.
Tokyo
Our Japan events, held in Tokyo the weekend of September 11-12, featured a graduation ceremony for our Japan program students and an alumni reunion.
