The James Chipps Scholarship Fund is dedicated to developing a scholarship program for students in the Clinical Psychology program at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, in honor of the passing of Dr. James Chipps, founding faculty member and Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Chipps is fondly remembered by innumerous alumni and the CSPP campus community not only as a professor, but as someone who taught lessons of love, the joy of learning, and the importance of living life to the fullest. Over the years, Dr. Chipps guided and shared his wealth of information with countless students and he did so with great enthusiasm and charm. He was also an extraordinary leader among the faculty and chaired numerous faculty committee meetings where his opinion was always held in high esteem.
He spent over 50 years as a beloved educator, leader, and clinical psychologist. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII and his tenure as president of the newly formed San Diego County Psychological Association in 1960, Dr. Chipps began his career at CSPP in 1973 as part of the founding faculty and briefly serving as academic dean. As an educator, Dr. Chipps' main interest was in the field of psychopathology in which he taught advanced seminars on schizophrenia and personality disorders. After retirement from CSPP in 1998, Dr. Chipps still continued to see clients in private practice (CABS) and mentored dissertation students at CSPP. Click here to read more about Dr. Chipps.
Please take a moment now to contribute to the scholarship in honor of Dr. Chipps that will continue to allow him, in name and spirit, to support and assist CSPP students for years to come.
